Year End Appeal
Dear Friends of EARLY STEPS,
EARLY STEPS serves families and independent schools in New York City with the sole purpose to promote racial diversity and help increase the enrollment of children of color in kindergarten and first grade. We are proud of our successful program that has enrolled over 3,500 children of color in independent schools since 1986. In September 2016, 172 students were enrolled in 55 New York City independent schools, creating a rich tapestry of diversity for children, families and schools.
On May 18, 2017, EARLY STEPS will celebrate its 30th anniversary. While we have come so far in the last three decades, there is still so much more to do. We know that a quality education in a diverse environment, especially when it begins in the early grades, empowers children to grow with the intellect and confidence they need to be successful in life. We hope you will join us in May as we honor four successful young adults who were guided by EARLY STEPS and are now flourishing in the world.
We need your financial support to continue making a difference in racial diversity. Our important work is made possible by the generosity of friends who believe in giving young children of color the opportunity to succeed in the challenging academic programs that independent schools offer. We are a small organization with no endowment so every dollar counts.
During this holiday season, I am asking you to give generously to the EARLY STEPS program. We are grateful for your sharing our commitment to expand educational opportunities for deserving children of color in our diverse city and global world. Because of your generosity, these children embrace the future full of expectation and promise.
